PR Manager

JOB SUMMARY:Responsible for driving effective PR plans by increasing awareness of the Girl Scout Brand. Implements strategic plans to support marketing goals through media relations, crisis/issues management, executive communications, the speakers’ bureau, photography, web communications, video scripts, special events, community relations, advocacy, strategic partnerships and vehicle management

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.Effectively executes brand and Council reputation priorities at the local level
2.Builds positive, sustainable and measurable relationships with key regional media
3.Writes, edits, and creates clear, consistent, high-quality communications for all external audiences. Communications will include, but are not limited to, letters, newsletters, external promotional materials, external communications, and ad hoc and routing communications.
4.Provides media training and coaching for executive’s and speakers’ bureau participants.
5.Acts as internal business partner; providing strategic communications counsel to senior management, Marketing department, Council Staff and volunteers on communicating with media around priorities and sensitive issues.
6.Makes recommendations on current trends in Public Relations
7.Develops strong relationships with Girl Scouts network and key partners
8.Serves as first point of contact for senior leadership on communications projects
9.Develops and execute communication plans and deliver agreed upon communications deliverables
10.Implements Social Media Execution
11.Works remotely as needed to support and complete assignments
12.Additional duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•7-10 years of successful external, PR, and special events experience
•Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related field
•Possess and active and robust network of relevant national and local media contacts
•Experience as an executive speech writer
•Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
•Strong problem solving abilities
•Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
•Strong organizational, proofreading, and editing skills
•Thorough knowledge of Associated Press style
•Ability to function with limited supervision
•Strong attention to detail
•Experience in branding, trade show management, collateral development, and external communications
•Must have strong portfolio that demonstrates skills and experience
•Must have flexibility to work evenings and some weekends
•10% travel nationally within 34 County service area
•Spanish Language fluency a plus
•Must have ability to work remotely and have necessary resources to work with large file graphics outside of the office environment
•Graphic software (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Web experience a plus
•Corporate and nonprofit experience a plus
•Must have reliable transportation
•Must successfully complete an Add Driver, credit, and background screen.
