Media Relations and Communications (Be the best PR Professional in Atlanta!)
This position will be responsible for designing and managing an annual publicity placement plan for all markets across all business units. Will research and develop full range of written materials including media/roll out kits, corporate and Market-specific press releases, byline articles, business correspondence, at-Market publications and reports.
Will work closely with product center/department managers to communicate new business initiatives to media. Will develop, implement, and manage all media events, press conferences/briefings, media tours, press rooms, press travel, hotel accommodations, etc. The position will develop and maintain relationships with editorial/journalistic contacts affiliated with trade, industry-specific (consumer/shelter/lifestyle and business) publications including networking at Market (individual meetings/lunches/dinners and group media parties and events). Will communicate to media by news releases (via e-mail), phone and in-person. Fields and coordinates all media inquiries. Will proactively create and distribute company news via releases, advisories, individual pitches, etc. Will create pitches to secure new media and maintain established media relationships. The position will manage the AMC, Inc. News Bureau, an information/news resource for AMC employees. Will edit to verify information to ensure accuracy of media materials and contacts and coordinate Market photography and videography services. Will create and manage budget including fiscal year planning, mid-year forecasting and monthly accruals. Will secure competitive estimates for vendor services with assistance from production/procurement manager. The associate will act as supporting liaison between AmericasMart and outside events and co-sponsors inclusive of high-profile media, industry organizations, celebrities, governmental organizations, etc. Will regularly reviews publications. Tracks and compiles all editorial coverage. The position will be responsible for all public relations-specific website updates including News Feed. Will write content for multiple communications channels, as directed and act as integral part of the Social Media team, including writing and securing guest contributions to blog; assisting with Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr account maintenance and management. The position will manage bin distribution program for Gift & Home Furnishings/Area Rug Markets and Apparel Markets, coordinating distribution with 30+ magazines per Market and hire/manages temp labor; manages collegiate intern program.
Must possess a high level of energy, creativity and passion for Media Relations & Communications. Undergraduate degree from four-year College or university in Marketing, Communications or Business with a minimum of five years prior related work experience is preferred. In addition to the ability to communicate thoughts clearly and simply, the candidate must be able to demonstrate creativity, initiative, and good judgment. Decision-making, problem-solving, and research skills also are important. Should have an outgoing personality, self-confidence, and enthusiasm for motivating people. Should be assertive but able to participate as part of a team and be open to new ideas. The associate should have the competency to integrate PR programs to support marketing goals and programs; able to perform within an integrated team environment. A knowledge of Microsoft Office products; including Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, PowerPoint and other graphics and/or presentation software. Accredited in Public Relations (APR) designation is a plus.
