Job Description
Our client, a nationally recognized marketing and advertising agency is seeking an Executive Director of Brand Planning. The position will be located in Atlanta and report to the EVP Brand Planning. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing inspiration from insights gained to yield great strategic and creative ideas for the clients and new business prospects.

The qualifications of the ideal candidate will be 8+ years within an agency environment of providing this inspiration ….from consumer/market insights through creative execution and implementation. They will be:

The thought leader on key agency clients … helping to positively impact the brand’s messaging and connections strategy.
Ambidextrous — qualitative and quantitative.
Savvy with traditional advertising and digital … embraces social media.
A cultural voyeur … strategic provocateur … curious and always questioning.
An outstanding marketer with extraordinary thinking skills … analytical and creative
Comfortable telling and selling a story … presentation and writing skills.
A recognized leader of internal and client teams.

The Executive Director Brand Planning will be responsible for:
Identifying and activating primary research needs.
Fielding and managing primary research projects … including insight mining and creative testing.
Using an array of syndicated research tools to enrich, define and understand the core target….demographic, psychographic, behavioral and attitudinal.
Use insights to help think beyond the traditional brand positioning model… to shape brand development and ideation that leads to creating cultural relevancy for clients
Applying insights to shape brand development and ideation.
Providing clear and compelling creative direction … managing the creative brief process.
Moderation, surveys and developing other non-traditional research.
Staying current and connected to popular culture … Trends, insights, and foresight.
Being the end to end strategic sounding board as part of the strategic development process … creative, strategic, media and digital.
Providing brand planning support on new business efforts.
Mentor and help develop the growth of both brand planning and cultural insights abilities of team members
Relationship development will be key to the successful candidate. They must:

Develop key partnerships with the agency’s account management, creative, digital and media teams and contribute as a "full" member of the client oriented brand teams.
Be recognized by senior client management as a full partner in their business by providing relevant thinking and new insights on their brands.
Share, learn, and collaborate with other members of the strategic planning team.
Develop and write thought leadership perspectives … white papers and blogs that contribute to the reputation of the planning group and the agency.
