Online Community Manager

Community Manager

Ariba is looking for a social media powerhouse to manage its online community and social media programs. This role is key to managing and growing Ariba’s brand online. The ideal candidate has a proven record of building and managing active, engaged communities, preferably in B2B spaces, and is passionate about helping customers be more successful through sharing and collaborating via social channels.


– Actively manage Ariba’s presence on social networks and content sharing platforms including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Slideshare, Ariba Exchange, and internal communications tool, Chatter

– Establish and direct a content calendar to ensure a rounded and steady delivery of content

– Implement a listening program to help ensure responsiveness to inbound requests and opportunities to engage

– Coordinate cross-departmental content creation for online communities

– Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to make best use of social channels in communicating with customers and prospects

– Create and manage paid social media campaigns when appropriate

– Build relationships with a network of external thought leaders to provide mutual expanded reach and exposure for key content

– Establish metrics and provide regular reporting against program goals

– Educate employees about social channels and effective engagement practices

– Assist key departments in creating and implementing social media strategies that improve their operations and their ability to service customers

– Generate recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation in community programs

– Monitor trends and evaluate the potential of new social channels and tools

– Drive the ongoing development of community strategy, policies, and guidelines

Required Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct hands on social media and/or community management experience
  • Deep understanding of community building techniques and a demonstrated ability to grow online communities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent sense of decorum in acting as a brand ambassador
  • Ability to demonstrate capacity for innovation and strategic thinking
  • Experience administering social listening and publishing platforms
  • Proficiency in video editing for use in a social media
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Data analysis and reporting abilities
  • Strong project management or organizational skills
  • Demonstrated experience in driving web traffic and converting and motivating target groups to take action and participate.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Works effectively as a team player as well as use own initiative
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines
  • Experience using Google Analytics, Omniture or similar
  • Basic understanding of SEO, public relations and syndication tools
  • Knowledge of supply chain, finance and/or business commerce gets major points
